Finishes

FisherCast Global die cast components are often used 'as cast' with no further treatment. Various surface finishes can also be applied to increase corrosion resistance, provide aesthetic appeal, and/or improve the mechanical properties of the components.

FisherCote III

FisherCast Global leads the small component zinc alloy die casting industry in offering a trivalent chromium-based coating as an alternative to traditional hexavalent chromium coatings. FisherCote III is a unique surface finish developed to meet the requirements of ELV, WEEE and RoHS Directives. When applied over an electroplated zinc flash, FisherCote III® is an iridescent "nickel-like" colour, with a slight purple/yellow hue. It will meet 96 hours of continuous salt spray protection when tested in accordance with ASTM B117. Without the zinc flash, the process produces a dull grey finish which typically provides 72 hours of continuous salt spray protection. Specific part geometries have yielded test results far in excess of these values, and salt spray protection may be substantially improved with the addition of surface sealers.

Offering low toxicity and aesthetic appeal, FisherCote III is available for all zinc alloy die cast component applications that require environmentally friendly corrosion protection.
